Just near Kofu station there is this pretty cool old Castle (parts of it are up to 400 years old). It is also known as Maizuru "dancing crane" Castle, because it is said to look like a dancing crane from above (they must have discovered this after the invention of the airplane). Its pretty much also the only green space in kofu city (parks are really hard to come by, because there is a limited amount of space for housing here). I often grab a lunch at a combini when im downtown and climb up all the steps to the top of the castle and sit and eat my lunch and take in the view of the surounding mountains. Its just a really pretty spot.
